Job Description
Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Lead Epic Hospital Billing Analyst. This position is a remote, work from home opportunity and you may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area.
Instruct, prioritize, and quality check the work of other business systems application analysts. Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business applications and industry requirements. Design and modify application configuration and code to solve complex problems considering technology and business needs. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirements specifications. Not only possess full technical knowledge of most phases of system analysis but also consider the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Acts as a team leader for projects with moderate budget or of a short to intermediate duration.
Essential Job Functions
- Instruct, direct, and check the work of other business systems application analysts
- Analyze business and user needs and design application configuration and procedures to solve complex business problems given constraints
- Document requirements and systems flow diagrams
- Design new application configuration and code to meet business requirements and needs
- Evaluate business implications of technology on the current business environment
- Team leader for projects with moderate budgets, mentors and leads other Business System Application Analysts
Required Qualifications
- Epic Hospital Billing certification
- Effective project management and team leadership skills are required: development and management of detailed project plans, objectives, control methods, and coordination of project team efforts
- Demonstrated expertise within a specialized area of information systems software implementation and operational management
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and assess work to meet deadlines and to cope in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of working well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams
- Proven ability to manage multiple requests, tasks, and requirements
- Proven skills in problem solving
- Experience in business process mapping
- Experience defining requirements and software development methodologies
- Ability to correlate between business, functional, and technical requirements
- Solid interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills
- Experience developing presentations for project work
- Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations
- BS or BA degree, computer science or business or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business management or information systems is required
- Minimal of 5 years of experience within an application team, with 2 years of experience leading an application team

- Epic Hospital Billing Claims and Remittance Certification
- Epic Hospital Billing Charging Certification
- Epic Home Health Revenue Cycle Certification
- Epic Hospice Revenue Cycle Certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
