Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine as a Social Worker, Registry working for the Social Work department.
This is an Adult Inpatient Registry position in our fast-paced hospital to provide support and coverage as needed to facilitate timely and safe patient discharges. Become a member of the multidisciplinary team who provides consultation, assessment, and interventions for patients and families in need of emotional, social or psychological support.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develops and leads or co-leads support and/or psycho educational groups for designated patient/family populations as appropriate.
- Collaboratively formulates appropriate and realistic discharge plans, working with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team and available community-based organizations including the Wyler Child Protective Services team and DCFS.
- Performs case management functions including information and referral services and linkages to appropriate hospital resources as well as community-based organizations.
- Serves as consultant and educator both formally and informally to the care and multidisciplinary teams regarding biopsychosocial components of illness and hospitalization.
- Attends and participates in multidisciplinary patient care rounds as available.
- Provides administrative coverage when requested.
- Participates in data collection process for social work.
- Develops accurate psychosocial assessments which examine the current problems as well as relevant biopsychosocial and environmental factors.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work from a School of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work education.
- Possess current state of Illinois Social Work License (LSW required).
- Requires knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Previous clinical social work experience in an acute care hospital setting of at least one year.

- Shift: 8-hour shift - 8:00am to 4:30pm (Weekends only)

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
