Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Public Safety Supervisor at our Hyde park location. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
In this role, you will patrol the University of Chicago Medicine campus and prepare and review Hospital Incident reports. You will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions of the second shift of the Public Safety Department as well as coordinating training services for the Public Safety staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Providing investigative services in the hospital.
- Insuring the Public Safety Officers (PSO) and Public Safety Coordinators (PSC) provide timely assistance to patients, visitors and employees whenever necessary.
- Patrolling the entire Medical Center on foot and inspecting hallways, stairways and all other public areas.
- Checking assigned area for fire/safety hazards.
- Providing escort services to employees and others upon request.
- Assisting patients and visitors as requested.
- Representing the Hospital in court when required.
- In conjunction with the University Police Department, assisting with investigations of all criminal and/or suspicious occurrences in the medical center.
- Performing duties of Public Safety Coordinator, dispatcher, or other duties assigned.
- Checking incoming personnel and visitors after hours.
- Performing individual post functions as set forth in Department Post Orders.
- Performing other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
- Three to five years of experience in the field of health care security, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Must complete IAHSS Basic Certification program within 12 months of employment and IAHSS Supervisory Certificate Program within 18 months of employment.
- Basic level of personal computer skills, including word processing/spreadsheet applications.
- Basic knowledge of security access systems (on the job training will be provided for UCH security systems).
- Must possess comprehensive knowledge of Medical Center layout, operations, departmental relationships and administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
