Job Description
This posting is for a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. The Digital Designer / Front-End Developer manages all aspects of design, development and maintenance of multiple University web and electronic environments. They create / produces designs, logos, forms, illustrations, and images for digital media including ads, web pages, emails, etc.; works with the Marketing Communication team to organize / maintain the College website; creates website enhancements / modifications; implements web designs and interfaces; assesses new standards, technologies, and trends; formulates strategies and content for digital marketing, including use of website and social media. Needs to be familiar with Content Managed Web Systems, HTM, CSS, JQUERY, Video, Browser interfaces, mobile interfaces, media types, and file compression techniques.
Essential Functions
This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance.
1. Create compelling, user-centered visual design concepts consistent with the University's mission, strategy, and brand for websites and digital applications, optimizing the use of screen layout and user interface elements.
2. Design video, multimedia, print materials and custom graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs as well as continuously improve navigation, accessibility, usability, and brand image of electronic-marketing tools and electronic- communications products
3. Work with marketing team colleagues and stakeholders to create or improve existing digital assets such as email designs, digital ads, social posts, and other web and digital assets.
4. Audit existing web pages to make informed decisions about improvements, including suggesting ways to improve user experience (UX).
5. Perform cross-browser / device testing to ensure compatibility and resolve any issues.
6. Track online traffic to identify trends in site usage, and regularly review web pages to ensure best practice search optimization.
7. Design video, multimedia, print materials and custom graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs as well as continuously improve navigation, accessibility, usability, and brand image of electronic-marketing tools and electronic- communications products
8. Serve as a subject matter expert on web analytics and stay abreast of industry best practices and new opportunities.
9. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for this position.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Some evening and weekend work are expectations of this position.
Travel
A valid US Drivers' license with a safe driving record is required, and the energy and ability to travel.
Required Education and Experience
1. A bachelor's degree (or three years demonstrated success) in Web Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
2. Proficiency with design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
3. Experience building web pages with WordPress and other web platforms. (Sharepoint Experience is a plus.)
4. Experience with a variety of Content Management Systems such as WordPress, Drupal, Ingenuix, etc.
5. Familiarity with modern front-end development : HTML5, JavaScript (ES6 / ESNext), and CSS3 (SCSS).
6. Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of web usability and information architecture. Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. 1-year experience in web design OR website development and maintenance
2. 1-year experience in digital design
3. Experience in content management systems
