What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anesthesia - Education Office Supervisor position at The University of Iowa?
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Anesthesia is seeking an Academic Clinical Program Management Specialist to coordinate and provide centralized administrative support for the Departments educational training programs, which include the accredited Residency Program and accredited and non-accredited Fellowship programs.
Duties to include:
- Coordinate daily administrative activities in the Residency and Fellowship education program office in accordance with curriculum, evaluation, and accreditation timelines.
- Organize, monitor, and evaluate data on resident, fellow, and faculty evaluations (clinical and didactic) for compliance with accreditation standards and institution requirements. Collaborate with the ACGME, UIHC GME Office and the Department of Anesthesia education directors on such evaluations.
- Oversee and coordinate the re-accreditation process for the Residency program and existing accredited fellowship programs. Oversee and coordinate the initial accreditation process for new fellowship programs.
- Coordinate the resident didactic lecture series, journal club, case conferences, and assist with revision of fellowship curriculum.
- Develop and implement new teaching methods, processes, or use of systems/technology for the efficient and effective operation of the Residency Education Program and the Fellowship programs.
- Provide functional and administrative supervision to the Educational Office staff; delegates activities to support staff.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 1-3 years of experience working with residency, medical student clerkships or fellowship training programs.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to manage small and large group interaction is required.
- Must be proficient in computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Desirable Qualifications
- 6 months to 1 year experience managing a team.
- Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge of ACGME requirements and standards.
