What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Analyst-Limnology position at The University of Iowa?
The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (Iowa’s Environmental and Public Health Laboratory) has an Environmental Analyst opening in the Ankeny Laboratory. This is a six-month term appointment and will run from approximately May/June 2025 through October/November 2025.
THIS IS A FULL TIME, SIX-MONTH TERM POSITION.
THIS POSITION DOES NOT OFFER ACCOMODATIONS.
LOCATION: ANKENY, IOWA
SCHEDULE: M-F 7:00am–3:30pm.
PAY: $20 per hour
JOB DUTIES:
- Collecting water, biological, and wastewater samples from rivers, streams, lakes, and industries and performing various analyses on samples in the field and laboratory.
- Extensive travel across Iowa may be required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
- The candidate should have or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, Animal Ecology, Environment Science, or a related discipline with an emphasis in aquatic science or fisheries.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills and a valid driver’s license.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with collection of surface water samples, wastewater samples, routine analytical procedures, electrofishing, and invertebrate collection.
Must have a valid Drivers License and be able to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
