The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an HR and Operations Coordinator.
This position will serve as the first point of contact and provide operational support for the Office of the Dean for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, located in 240 Schaeffer Hall, and provide administrative support for the CLAS HR team. Administrative responsibilities of this position require discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises 5 member student office assistant team, who serve as first point of contact for the 240 SH main office. Executes and manages all hiring and termination plans for student employees. Creates the position, develops the projects needed, conducts all training, and establishes goals for the position.
- Coordinates events for the dean’s office. Reviews, approves, and implements strategies for over 18 events that need to happen annually, as hosted by the Office of the Dean. Ensures all events have a plan, communication structure, and function at the expectation level of the Dean's.
- Develop and execute budgets for various events, more than 18 annually. Ensure appropriateness of purchasing for special projects.
- Implements communication strategy and execution timeline for CLAS Business Updates, including master calendar of deadlines and events. Develops and implements communication strategies for all event invitations and correspondence on behalf of the Office of the Dean.
- Runs and organizes reports for leadership, HR, the MarCom team, and others in the college.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of administrative experience.
- Proven ability to manage daily operations in an office environment, including experience coordinating complex schedules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating and distributing professional communications, newsletters, or updates.
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office support tools available: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. (working proficiency)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a highly organized manner.
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills and the ability to resolve first-point-of-contact inquiries, triage issues, and provide guidance or escalation as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HR processes, including drafting offer letters, submitting transaction requests, managing I-9 communication, and onboarding support.
- Basic experience maintaining websites, databases or working with the Drupal platform.
- Experience with oversight of complex, multi-faceted organizational administration; experience with different stakeholder interests (students, faculty, administration, alumni).
- Basic knowledge of University policies and procedures.
