What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Assistant position at The University of Iowa?
Part-time (20-35 hrs/wk) hourly position staring immediately, flexible schedule, however highly recommend working several hours at a time as opposed to several short shifts.
The Driving Safety Research Institute (DSRI)is a self-sustained transportation safety research center at the University of Iowa's College of Engineering and is generally viewed as one of the worldwide experts in driving safety. Funded by government and industry contracts, DSRI utilizes its suite of world-class driving simulators and instrumented on-road vehicles to conduct research studies for the private and public sectors.
The successful applicant will be working on the following job duties:
- Scan the internet to locate vehicle manufacturer literature related to vehicle safety systems
- Analyze technical documents to find information related to vehicle system capabilities and functions
- Perform data entry using a keyboard and mouse
- Proficient with using a computer, browsing the internet and typing accurately
- Able to sit at a desk, and look back and forth between multiple computer screens for several hours each day
- Must be detail oriented and comfortable with reading technical specifications in large documents
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn new technologies, study technical documentation, and learn from others exhibiting a positive attitude
- Ability to apply new knowledge and communicate it clearly
- Attention to detail, orderliness, efficiency, and desire to produce a high-quality product
