What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomy Technician I position at The University of Iowa?
The Department of Pathology is recruiting for a temporary Phlebotomy Technician I for our Outpatient Phlebotomy Service. This position will perform phlebotomy/specimen collection and a variety of laboratory tasks related to phlebotomy, labeling specimens, telephone inquiries, and distribution of phlebotomy supplies.
Anticipated hours will be Monday - Friday, rotating between 0700-1800.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs phlebotomy draws.
- Performs computer data entry and other clerical tasks as required.
- Orders, receives, and distributes supplies.
- Responds to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represents assigned and related work areas.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
High school graduation or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
Minimum six (6) months previous experience working in a healthcare setting
Basic computer skills
Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment
Previous patient contact experience
