The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. A Staff Nurse will assess patients' nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.
- Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness
- Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations
- Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings
- Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes
- Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response
- Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan
- Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care
- Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: M-F; 7:00am-3:30pm

Salary: $60,000 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate *This does not include differentials. Salary will vary based on years of experience and percent of effort.*

Educational Requirements:
- An Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or master’s degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN).
Experience Requirements:
- 1 year of current nursing experience or recent nursing graduate within last 6 months.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and limited resources.
- Demonstration of strong organizational skills and time management.
- Demonstrated competency in conscious sedation administration, patient management, recovery, and EKG interpretation.
Certification Requirements:
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience with procedural sedation.
- Demonstrated competency in conscious sedation administration, patient management, recovery, and EKG interpretation.
- Professional nursing certification.
