BASIC FUNCTION
The Belin-Blank Center at the University of Iowa seeks instructors for summer programs. Programs are designed for students in grades 3-8, as one-week classes for bright elementary and junior high students. Classes in STEM, arts, and the humanities will cultivate students’ interests, spark their curiosity, and increase their learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop class curriculum and activities for students registered for the class.
- Provide supply request form, class description, and syllabus by the communicated date
- Assist the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator with managing the care and safety of the students participating in programs.
- Arrive punctually and continue supervision until all students have been picked up or a staff member assumes responsibility.
- Remain self-motivated, energetic and willing to be flexible in duties and interactions with students. Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
- Utilize good communication skills when meeting with students, parents/guardians, co-workers, and coordinators.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- a teaching license, or comparable expertise in the field they will be teaching
- prior experience working with school-age students
- evidence of the ability to implement highly effective teaching practices
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPR/AED/First-Aid certification
WORK HOURS
- Monday – Friday – 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION
- Belin-Blank Center Summer Programs take place primarily at the Blank Honors Center on the University of Iowa campus.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Criminal Background Check upon hire
- Minors on Campus training prior to start
RATE OF PAY
- $2500/week-long course and instruction preparations
- This position is not benefits eligible.
