What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Food Worker I for University Catering position at The University of Iowa?
The Division of Student Life: University Housing & Dining is seeking a Temporary Food Worker I for University Catering. Under direct supervision, the Temporary Food Worker I performs a variety of tasks involved in the service of food and beverages for Catering and Hancher events including busing, cocktail and table service, event setup, and clean up.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
- Ensure that assigned event space is ready for service prior to guest arrival.
- Responsible for setup, service, and cleanup of catered events.
- Respond to inquiries from customers in a positive and professional manner.
- Assembles, labels, stores, and issues foods as ordered or required to service areas at prescribed times.
- Performs sanitation duties by maintaining and cleaning, serving, dining and kitchen areas during and after service and/or food preparation.
- Assists with inventory control and ordering of foods and supplies.
- Assist in on-the job training of students and other assigned personnel in the preparation of menu items.
- Delivering events and operating University vehicles.
POSITION BASICS:
Hourly Rate/Range: $16.97
WORK SCHEDULE:
Hours: Varied work schedule based on operational need. Typically working 8 hour shifts between the hours of 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
Shift: Varied first and second shift
Work Week: Occasional overtime may be offered to cover peak periods of operational need
Additional Hours: As needed
