Job Description
Student Recruitment – 65%
- Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison for the HR Partner, Unit, and Search Committee to provide recruitment guidance, consultation, and expertise in alignment with federal guidelines, university policies, and procedures for student recruitment activities. Will work with departments on student job posting details to meet university guidelines.
- Reviews, audits recruitment plans and posts approved position descriptions coordinating with the HR Partner or Compensation Team as appropriate. Reviews position number assignment/position control validation and evaluates student direct hires in coordination with the supervisor.
- Assists applicants with questions on application process and status, sends system notification of application outcome to candidates.
- Manages concurrent hiring activities for student employees.
- Manages federal work study pools, hiring and related processes in coordination with units, affiliates, and HR Partners.
- Generates online offer (ensuring memorandum of agreement requirements are met), manages and reviews background check completion and results, updates PeopleSoft panels for position management activities, ensures supporting/organizational documents are collected for compliance purposes and monitors recruitment processes to ensure university guidelines are followed.
- Coordinates with supervisor or Senior Recruiter on any hiring activity requiring a start date, compensation, or other offer letter change.
- Works with Recruitment Director to evaluate issues related to the search process. Assists with the resolution of issues and concerns.
- Works with International Employment Advisor Sr. or International Scholar Services with any visa related issues.
- Works assigned tickets responding to questions or requests that require more than tier 1 level of support.
- Consults with HR Partners and units regarding internship questions, summer camps, etc.
- Supports the recruiting team with networking, recruitment, and outreach activities.
- Works with HR Partners in Schools/Areas as needed to support hiring needs, especially in the student and 3G world.
- Works with the Onboarding Specialist Team and the new employee to ensure a positive new hire experience.
- Assists with new hire orientation programming and development as needed.
- Reviews recruitment data reports to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of recruitment efforts, and make recommendations for continued improvement.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of information, communication history, and recruitment activities. Provides ad-hoc reports to HR Partners/units served as requested.
- Participates in projects to build efficiency and training programs/resources for stakeholders.
- Participates and identifies outreach opportunities to promote brand recognition and showcasing the university as an employer of choice.
- Engages with social media, student hiring job fair, external job fairs, and other HR events as appropriate.
- Liaises with units to provide connections and updates to strategic offerings with recruitment services.
- Actively Participates in professional development activities to promote learning and growth.
- Bachelor's degree OR a high school diploma/GED plus a minimum of four years of related professional-level work experience or equivalent.
- Computer skills in a PC/Windows environment including MS Word and MS Excel as demonstrated by application materials and previous experience.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail as demonstrated by application materials.
- Previous experience demonstrating the ability to build collaborative relationships/partnerships as evidenced by application materials.
- Previous experience working independently in a team environment, take ownership of the resolution of problems, be flexible and accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines, as evidenced by application materials.
- Two years of experience in human resources or recruiting.
- PHR or SCP Certification.
- Experience in recruitment (human resources, benefits, communication, and/or training at the University of Kansas).
- Experience working with confidential data.
- Experience using an HR Applicant Tracking Software system.
- Previous experience that required analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of constituents in a higher education environment.
