What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Maintenance Technician position at The University of Manchester?
We have 4 exciting new opportunities for Trainee Mechanical Technician (Apprenticeship Programme) within our Facilities Maintenance and Compliance Team.
The role will assist the Maintenance team to carry out maintenance to all mechanical (HVAC) infrastructure, plant and equipment associated with a major University and to complete installation work in a technically flexible manner and will be expected to include some elements of an electrical engineering discipline, whilst working within the levels of a known competency.
The scope of work includes repair, maintenance and improvements engineering services. This would include PPM (planned preventative maintenance) works, reactive maintenance works (via UoM helpdesk) & small project works.
During your apprenticeship, you will :
- Attend study with an appropriate provider to gain the designated apprenticeship.
- Spend at least 20% of your time 'off the job’ learning and developing Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours.
- Participate in all UoM apprentice network events and skills competitions.
- Log and record all work activities and training making these available for review during 1 : 1’s.
- Be supported by a series of experienced members of staff.
