The University of Manchester
Oxford, CT Full Time
POSTED ON 3/4/2025

The University of Manchester is one of the world’s leading universities, but also with deep roots in the city of Manchester and the wider region. We draw on the rich legacy of discovery, activism, and community service, which has defined us over the last 200 years. We are in the process of writing our new university strategy as we begin our third century. With over 13,000 staff and 46,000 students, we are also one of the UK’s largest and most comprehensive universities, with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research and social responsibility. We are ranked 34th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025) and 2nd in the world for social and environmental impact (Times Higher Education Impact Ranking).

We seek to appoint a new Vice-President of Teaching, Learning and Students to lead our education portfolio, enabling our students to reach their full potential. We also want to provide learners of all ages and backgrounds the chance to contribute to positive social change, improving their lives and those of others. This is a key post as a member of the University’s Executive Team. In joining, you will bring a deep understanding of the rapidly evolving higher education landscape, and a strong track record of delivering excellent education and steering positive change in a complex, high-performing university. You will demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence, a deep commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, teamwork and inspirational leadership, as well as deep expertise in higher education - and especially innovation in education. The new Vice-President will be an inspiring and values-led leader, able to build effective relationships across disciplines and deliver outstanding learning outcomes.

The University is committed to building a fully inclusive and diverse community, including its executive leadership. We welcome and encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds with the qualifications and experience to undertake this role, including under-represented groups.
