SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. Moreover, an employee in this position performs clerical duties relating to the department, receives and stores incoming supplies. The Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem also verifies stock and enters data into the computer to maintain accurate and complete inventory records.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Weighs, counts, measures, and mixes medication.
- Handles inventory to ensure that the pharmacy is appropriately stocked.
- Receives written prescription, fills prescriptions or refill requests, and verifies that information is complete and accurate.
- Answers telephones and responds to questions or requests.
- Fills bottles with prescribed medications, and types and affixes labels.
- Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items, and referring them to the appropriate staff.
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles and records.
- Transfers medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile and disposable syringes using aseptic techniques.
- Supplies and monitors robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers.
- Prepares and processes medical insurance claim forms and handles insurance claim records.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education :
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing :
Florida Pharmacy Tech License
Experience :
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
