Job Summary:
Develops, coordinates, implements, and manages the education efforts for the UMMC Office of Integrity and Compliance. Provides extensive education and training to workforce members on healthcare and research compliance.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Degree (Bachelor’s or Associate’s) and three (3) years of relevant experience.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), and/or Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possess extensive knowledge in medical coding and billing rules to include ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to take complex information and present in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen collaborative relationships.
Ability to handle the demands of new tasks/assignments/projects, along with other routine responsibilities.
Demonstrates excellent organization, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Must be self-motivated and a quick study.
Demonstrates ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives through to completion.
Proficient with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or Teams and other web-based applications.
Responsibilities
- Develops educational materials specific to individual, departmental, and institutional needs.
- Prepares, coordinates, implements, and oversees institutional compliance training.
- Prepares, coordinates, implements, and oversees new employee compliance training.
- Conducts training sessions to educate billing providers on compliance matters related to coding, billing, and documentation guidelines and teaching physician guidelines.
- Conducts training sessions to educate workforce members on deficiencies identified in compliance program auditing and monitoring activities.
- Conducts training sessions to educate workforce members on research compliance and conflicts of interest.
- Conducts faculty onboarding training.
- Collaborates with management to identify other educational opportunities.
- Prepares, coordinates, implements, and oversees other educational endeavors as may arise.
