Serves as a financial leader of the health system by providing daily guidance and strategic consultation to operational leadership.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and four (4) years hospital financial management experience
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in accounting, business or healthcare administration. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Knowledge of federal, state, and hospital financial regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques, and standards. Interpersonal skill to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Analytical and organizational skills. Ability to develop and implement strategic business and operating plans. Ability to plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and modify financial programs, informational support systems, and processes. Ability to provide consultation and recommendation to senior leadership. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across organizational lines. Responsibilities:
- Assists with development of financial goals and objectives for assigned operational area.
- Manages the preparation of assigned operational areas' fiscal year budget including capital items.
- Responsible for variance/gap analysis and reporting for assigned operational area.
- Works with operational area leaders to implement financial plans and productivity benchmarks, and to monitor progress toward financial goals.
- Assists with reviews of operational areas' proposed contracts and value analysis proposals.
- Supports effective revenue cycle and supply chain processes.
- Supports the strategic financial planning as component of strategic planning process.
- Implement strategies and systems to improve financial performance.
- Works in conjunction with and is a part of UMMC's financial leadership team.
