Job Summary:
To perform student accounting functions such as maintaining student accounts, reconciling ledger accounts, preparing reports, administering refunds, processing payments, and responding to student inquiries. To review policies, analyze complex financial data, and prepare student statements, and revenue projections.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field and three (3) years of related experience. Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) by the Mississippi Board of Public Accountants may be substituted for two (2) years of required experience.
Certification by the institute of internal auditors as a certified internal auditor may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and practices. Skills in the use of personal computers, Excel, Word, and related accounting software applications. Interpersonal skills, and ability to analyze, gather, and report data and/or information. Verbal and written communication skills. Record maintenance skills. Ability to create, maintain, and update databases and spreadsheets. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.

- Provide quality customer service to all customers, co-workers, students, faculty and staff.
- Analyzes student accounts, records charges, provides refunds, processes payments, reviews student accounts receivable, general and subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness; investigates and resolves questionable entries.
- Assist, analyze, and implement appropriate solutions for students, parents, and other UMMC offices with questions and problems regarding student accounts.
- Prepares, examines, and analyzes student accounting records and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Researches, monitors, analyzes, investigates, and reconciles account balance problems. Recommends procedural corrections.
- Handles deposits, check requests, petty cash and supports month and year end reporting.
- Responds to student inquiries, conveys information, and resolves accounting issues.
