Position Description

The School of Engineering at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a permanent non-tenure track faculty position at the INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR level to begin in August 2025.

Primary responsibilities will include instructing undergraduate engineering courses such as statics, engineering mathematics, mechanics of materials, materials science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and circuit theory. Additional duties may include advising students and student organizations as well as participating in recruiting and orientation events.

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline before beginning this position. Competitive candidates will have demonstrable teaching ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an energetic commitment to undergraduate education. The opportunity for advancement to the rank of Instructional Associate Professor and Instructional Professor is available.

About the Department : The General Engineering program at The University of Mississippi serves a dual role within the School of Engineering. The program's dedicated faculty teach core engineering courses—such as thermodynamics, statics, and circuit theory—that support students across all engineering disciplines. In addition to this instructional role, the program also offers its own flexible degree path for General Engineering majors. These students work closely with faculty to design personalized degree plans with specialized emphases in areas like pre-med, aerospace, business, and more, allowing them to align their engineering education with diverse career goals

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline before beginning this position.
