Position Summary
The UNM Student Financial Aid Office seeks a dynamic and creative professional interested in working as part of the department’s Scholarships Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional to join a progressive Financial Aid Office.
Reporting to the Financial Aid Manager, the Financial Aid Officer is a key member of the organization and will work in partnership with the Division of Enrollment Management and colleagues throughout the university system.
As a member of the Scholarships Team, the Financial Aid Officer is a critical team member who ensures daily departmental operational goals are met. The Financial Aid Officer provides support in awarding aid and utilizes strategies to maximize the use of federal, state, and institutional aid in support of institutional goals while following federal and state regulations, institutional policies, and internal checks and balances to allow for efficient awarding and disbursement of aid to students.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success. The successful candidate will have excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, a high sensitivity to cultural issues, competency for critically analyzing processes, and an understanding of the innovative uses of technology in a higher education setting (Banner experience preferred). A Financial Aid Officer must be highly organized, detail oriented, able to work productively as a member of a team, creative, energetic, and possess a strong commitment to superior customer service and an understanding of the importance of financial aid in recruitment and retention.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
