What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist position at The University of New Mexico?
A postdoctoral researcher position is open immediately in Dr. Xue’s laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at University of New Mexico (https://bmb.unm.edu/faculty/xiang-xue.html ) to study the molecular mechanisms for inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. We utilize cell line and enteroid cultures, mouse models, patient tissues and a wide array of molecular and biochemical methodologies.
We welcome talented and committed candidates with recent Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Immunology or other relevant branches of biological sciences to join our team. Experiences in successfully generating stable cell lines, handling mice, producing tumors in mice and treating mice with commonly-used drug administration approaches would be a plus.
The expected qualifications of candidates include:
- be highly self-motivated with strong interest in learning new knowledge and techniques;
- have excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to details;
- be capable of conceptualizing, designing experiments and conducting studies independently as well as cooperatively with other lab members as a team;
- have the capability to write grants and manuscripts for quality publications.
