Position Summary
The University of New Mexico’s Center for Geospatial and Population Studies (GPS) maintains New Mexico's traffic crash database for the New Mexico Department of Transportation and serves as the New Mexico State Demographer’s Office and liaison to the US Census Bureau. We support government agencies, lawmakers, and the public by providing accurate, impartial data and objective analysis to inform data-driven decisions.
GPS is seeking a Programmer Analyst 1 to work with GPS’s senior programming staff to create custom applications, dashboards, workflows, QA / QC procedures and other programming tasks.
Duties for the Programmer Analyst 1 position may include, but are not limited to,
- Creating and maintaining data pipelines that integrate disparate datasets
- Using Python or other Object Oriented Programming to clean, organize, transform and integrate data.
- Creating documentation and workflow diagrams
- Developing and / or maintaining dashboards and custom applications
- Designing and implementing QA / QC testing procedures
- Writing custom SQL queries
Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and / or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
