POSITION SUMMARY :
Providesdirect supervision of a group of children in a School Age setting. Provides a quality experience to children andparents focused on YMCA core values : honesty, respect, responsibility, andcaring.
Essential Functions :
1. Supervises a group ofchildren.
2. Plansand implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentallyappropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
3. Attendsstaff meetings and trainings.
4. EnsuresYMCA program standards and ratios are met and safety procedures are followed,including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuseprevention and emergencies.
5. Greetsand maintain a positive relationship with parents, children and staff on adaily basis.
6. Responsiblefor general housekeeping duties. Checklist for cleaning is located at eachlocation.
7. Assistsin the planning and preparation of a creative learning environment.Establishing centers of interest, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
8. Participatesin Annual Fundraising.
9. To beinclusive to all children’s ability to participate in group activities.
10. Adheres to YMCA’s policies and proceduresinvolving dress code, punctuality and use of electronics.
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications :
1. High school graduate orequivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
2. Previousexperience working with children preferably in a School Age setting
3. Experiencepreferred in one or more of the following areas : outdoor living, archery,boating, camping, songs / music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games,etc...
4. Atleast 18 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law andYMCA
5. CPR,First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30days of hire date.
6. Previousexperience with diverse populations preferred.
Physical Demands :
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor / indoor settings.
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting.
