Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit | The SES Department offers programs in Special Education, Birth through Kindergarten (BK), and Interpreting, Deaf Education, and Advocacy Services (IDEAS). It includes full-time faculty who have a history of success procuring external funding for both research and development of service providers, teachers, researchers, and leaders. The Special Education program area offers CAEP-accredited initial teacher licensure programs in the following areas:

The Department also offers bachelor's degree programs in ASL Interpreter Preparation, Deaf Education, and Deaf Advocacy. In addition, the BK program offers a master's degree in Birth-Kindergarten and a post-baccalaureate initial licensure program-BKIL. |
Position Summary | The candidate in this position will offer needed instructional support to the Special Education program in the areas of literacy and the principles of the Science of Reading and engage in productive research leading to peer-reviewed publications, and the procurement of grant funding as appropriate. The candidate will also help maintain the integrity of the programs through offering a high degree of expertise in service delivery and instruction for students with high-incidence disabilities (with a focus on literacy), with the capacity to serve on dissertation committees, assume departmental administrative roles such as program coordinator, and service to the department, the School of Education, the University, and the field. This position will work closely with a range of administrative and academic personnel and programs, including the Assistant Dean of Educator Preparation in support of the continuous improvement of UNCG's Educator Preparation Programs. |
