OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. This position is responsible for systems administration tasks needed to maintain the University's supercomputing cluster as well as working with a diverse range of faculty, staff and students to make the best possible use of OU's computing resources.
- Performs system administration including but not limited to system maintenance, patching, configuration, network management, hardware troubleshooting, monitoring, and backups, and perform comparable functions on other resources. (this position will be responsible for communication maintenance, query development, form creation, and portal configuration within Hello and Crimson Slate instances)
- Tracks issues and works with researchers, educators and other team members to resolve obstacles. (this includes solving system issues within both instances of Slate, for example building query templates when mailings won’t send or creating data fields to build variable student communication)
- Analyzes business and technology needs, specifies, tests and deploys solutions to these needs, and develops documentation on these solutions that allow for long-term support. (such as building, testing, and deploying the NSO registration portal and creating documentation for NSO team members like the event creation instructions)
- Works with vendors and colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems and prepares documentation for other team members to provide consistency for operational support. (main contact for OU Bound portal technical problems)
- Provides consulting support to users and other technical groups in support of deployed technical solutions. (such as providing support to Strategic Technology, OU’s IT department, Sooner Card, iAdvise, Star Rez, Banner, etc., on APIs and data transfers between Slate and other systems)
- Interacts with internal and external software and hardware providers in the deployment and troubleshooting of system errors. (main point of contact for hello and crimson Slate instances for technical communication system errors and needs)
- Provides mentorship within their respective area of expertise to other employees within the organization. (Slate onboarding training for all new EMCOMM employees, as well as portal training used for events and campus tours)
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
- Leads and supervises staff.
- Leads and participates in communication projects, ensuring that expectations are managed, and work is completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates technical and communication projects in order for the University to be represented in appropriate mediums.
