Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director Alumni Engagement manages alumni activity and volunteer pipelines for the School of Arts and Sciences, including but not limited to the Professional Women's Alliance, College Alumni Mentoring Programs, and new SAS Inclusion initiatives. The Associate Director will implement new strategies to develop and sustain alumni, parent, and constituent satisfaction and participation as volunteers and donors with Penn Arts & Sciences. They will liaise with campus partners, including the College Office, Career Services, and academic departments, to facilitate alumni recruitment for career mentoring initiatives. The Associate Director will be creative, strategic, and collaborative in their approach to constituency engagement, working with colleagues across campus and alumni volunteers to advance the mission of Penn Arts and Sciences.

Penn's School of Arts and Sciences' Office of Advancement is committed to the advancement, promotion and support of the strategic agenda of the School through fundraising and public relations efforts. The Advancement office strives to enhance the quality, reputation and financial strength of the School by securing critical resources to support existing and new initiatives and by building a full appreciation of SAS faculty, students, and initiatives through a broad range of media and programs
Duties / Job Responsibilities :
- Implement annual and multi-year plans and strategies for the substantive engagement of a diverse spectrum of alumni and volunteer leaders. Increase alumni engagement with Penn Arts & Sciences by expanding volunteer leadership opportunities. Manage volunteer leaders' recruitment, training, and implementation by collaborating with relevant offices, leveraging alumni volunteer recommendations, and proactively identifying prospective volunteers.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage new groups of volunteers, identify, engage, and enlist volunteer leaders from groups not previously engaged with Penn, support the success of the volunteers, and work with others to increase connection to and engagement with Penn. Establish a new series of events and initiatives focused on connectedness and belonging at Penn.
- Manage SASOA's volunteer boards to ensure that they are focused on the growth of engagement, leadership, volunteerism, and philanthropy of Penn Arts & Sciences alumni and constituents. Continue to seek opportunities to expand the scope of volunteer boards through membership, events, and outreach.
- Support SASOA's signature alumni engagement events with an eye toward continuous improvement and evaluation. Maintain alumni engagement-related aspects of digital presence, including the intranet and volunteer assets. Develop effective marketing strategies and targeted communications and manage volunteer tracking and database processes.
- Partner with the Director of Annual Giving and MGOs to leverage alumni engagement programs and initiatives to drive annual fund participation and prospect development and participate in campaign planning
- Work closely with SASOA leadership, Major Gift Officers (MGOs), DAR colleagues, and data analytics teams to establish a systematic and ongoing approach to identify and evaluate alumni & constituent volunteers for new and unfilled volunteer needs, focusing on targeted prospects and engaging volunteers as donors.
- Support key alumni engagement events and programming, both on-campus and regionally, including signature programs such as BenTalks, Salon gatherings, and Alumni weekend events. As part of this effort, staff school and university academic leadership, faculty, SAS board members, and other volunteers as needed.
- Collaborate with the SAS Advancement communications team to engage alumni through social media and digital branding for Penn Arts and Sciences programming and execute a comprehensive alumni communications strategy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in a complex higher education institution preferred.
Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally and work evenings and weekends as needed; a valid driver's license is required.
