Job Description Summary
At Morris Arboretum and Gardens of the University of Pennsylvania, the Director of Plant Science will lead the strategic development of the Plant Science programs. This role is pivotal in advancing MA&G as a recognized center for plant and environmental science, with a focus on providing scientifically objective information about floristics, ecology, and plant conservation in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Director will supervise a team of 5 science staff and conduct their own research in areas of strategic importance to MA&G's scientific mission. Additionally, the Director will enhance educational efforts to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and plant sciences among diverse audiences, including the general public, students, and guests.

- Strategic Leadership : Provide vision and leadership for MA&G's research program focused on organismic and community-level plant science and conservation.
- Program Development : Advance MA&G's ambition to be nationally recognized for its contributions to plant and environmental science.
- Supervision and Research : Supervise a team of 5 science staff and conduct personal research in strategic areas.
- Educational Outreach : Promote educational initiatives to increase awareness of conservation and plant sciences among various audiences.
- External Relations : Seek opportunities, resources, contacts, and partnerships to support the Arboretum and University's science and conservation programs.
- Public Engagement : Serve as a public face for science and conservation at MA&G, engaging with peers, allied institutions, and donors.
