Mail Services Assistant
Receives and processes incoming mail and packages for the student community and faculty/ staff. Distributes mail to 40 departments. Retrieves and processes all outgoing mail. Responsible for compiling and tabulating postage expenditures and for registering all accountable mail. Oversees and directs mail-handling duties of the student employees. Provides window service, handles incoming telephone inquiries and maintains key control procedures.
Collects, sorts, processes, and distributes incoming mail and prepares, bags, and processes outgoing mail according to all applicable postal regulations and utilizing various types of mailing equipment and related software. Offers excellent customer service and assistance.
- Mail sorting: Sorts incoming, outgoing and campus mail for faculty, staff, and students.
- Mail delivering: Deliver mail to 40 departments.
- Window clerk: Duties include distributing packages; answering questions about postage PO Boxes, and package tracking.
- Customer Service: A pleasant image should be conveyed at all times using good interpersonal skills to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Mail processing: Metering mail for individual office outgoing mail as well as large bulk mailings.
- Key Control: Oversee distribution, replacement, collection and inventory for campus PO box keys.
- Student Employees: Provide direction for student employees.
Significant physical effort is required to handle mail trays, carts and packages of all shapes, sizes and weights. Mobility within the Mail Room and for delivering mail across campus is required.
