Maintenance Services II
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Facilities Management & Operations department is responsible for maintaining, preserving and enhancing the University's physical assets. We are committed to operation excellence. Our core services include custodial, building, and ground maintenance, in addition to construction and renovation projects done in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Oakland Office of Facilities Management. Our goal is to ensure a safe, operational and appealing campus environment.
Responsible for the general and craft maintenance of the residence halls, operation of University equipment, preventive and scheduled maintenance to support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages and activities sponsored by individuals/groups using the campus facilities.
The Maintenance Worker II will perform general groundskeeping and craft maintenance on campus grounds and related equipment as follows:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair of equipment;
- Operate tractors, mowers, trucks, dump truck with spreader, and backhoes;
- Assist in performing electrical, HVAC, carpentry and plumbing repairs, installations and overhauls;
- Cut grass, plant shrubbery, weed gardens, mulch, remove snow and spread salt;
- Assist in painting outside surfaces, laying concrete, constructing fences and other fixtures, clean basins and yard drains;
- Drive campus vehicle to pick up and/or deliver supplies, materials or passengers on campus;
- Aid in loading and unloading vehicles and moving heavy boxes and supplies;
- Follow prescribed safety regulations and inform management of potential risks or hazards;
- Complete work requests and notify management of repair work and required materials;
- Support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages and activities sponsored by individuals or groups using campus facilities;
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Work will be completed individually or as part of a team.
The Maintenance Worker II must have the ability to travel independently throughout campus, be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds including equipment and supplies, to crawl into and work in confined spaces, and to climb ladders.
