Assists with and/or conducts laboratory experiments and routine tests and scientific tasks. Performs data and specimen collection and processing as well as equipment maintenance and set up. Ensures adherence to all established protocols and regulatory practices.
The Trauma and Transfusion Medicine Research Center (TTMRC) is seeking a Phlebotomist for Dr. Susan Shea's lab. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing day-to-day activities of designated research projects. Responsibilities will include participant screening, recruitment, and enrollment; survey administration, medical record screening, biological sample collection, and data entry; participant tracking and progress reporting. Work will be performed in accordance with established standard operating procedures and under the close supervision of the lead study coordinator.

Essential Functions Ability to visualize a computer screen, utilize computer keyboard, and communicate effectively while speaking and writing. The incumbent must be able to use a computer and telephone. The incumbent must be able to speak English clearly to be understood by participants both in person and over the phone. The incumbent must hear well enough to understand English spoken by non-native speakers. The incumbent must be able to ravel to various UPMC sites if necessary.
