Position Description The Division of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KSM) in the School of Education at The University of South Dakota invites applicants for an instructor / lecturer position beginning in the fall semester of 2025. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, nine-month position.
Responsibilities : The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology and Sport Management (face-to-face, online, and other distance delivery systems), and serve on various University and School of Education committees. There are no research expectations for this position. Additional assignments may be made based on the professional and academic background of the candidate to complement the strengths of the faculty and to address the diverse needs of students in the KSM program.
Required Qualifications : Candidates must have a master’s degree or higher in Sport Management, Exercise Science, or a closely related field. ABD will be considered, but the doctorate must be completed by August 21, 2025 for the lecturer line. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of excellence, or potential for excellence, in teaching at the collegiate / university level. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications : Preference will be given to candidates with experience and / or ability to teach courses such as : Introduction to Kinesiology and Sport Management, Organization and Administration, Introduction to Coaching Men & Women, Introduction to Research, Stress Management, and externship / internship supervision. Evidence of management and leadership abilities is preferred. Experience teaching online and current ACSM or NSCA certification are also a plus.
