What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Services Coordinator in Legal Studies position at The University of Southern Mississippi?
The Academic Services Coordinator for Legal Studies performs various support duties to assist the functioning of the Legal Studies Program. This staff member will perform a wide range of administrative duties to support the work of the Legal Studies Program and to promote the success of its students including assisting with the approval process with the American Bar Association. This staff member will help with academic advising of undergraduate majors.
As determined by the Legal Studies coordinator and the Director of the School of Social Science and Global Studies, this position may provide limited support for academic services in the School, to include assistance with School recruitment activities, short-term coverage for staff absences, limited assistance to School staff on time-sensitive projects, summer duties not to exceed 20% of work hours across a 12-month period.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with the assembly of accreditation data
- Assists with the supervision of student experiential learning ( internships)
- Assists with the assembly and reporting of assessment data
- Assists with the logistics of special campus events sponsored
- Assists with advisement and student degree progress
- Assists communication with external stakeholders including advisory boards and alumni
- Assists adjunct faculty with technology
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of experience as a paralegal in both litigation and transactional law office settings.
At least 1 year of experience in Academic Affairs (advising, accreditation, degree progress).
