What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Faculty position at The University of Southern Mississippi?
Faculty members facilitate students’ achievement ofcourse objectives and prepare students to master skill sets that enableprogression throughout the nursing program of study. Faculty members workclosely with the course, clinical, and program coordinators to ensure thestandards and quality of the nursing curricula are met and maintained.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and teach courses assigned.
- Adhere to class and clinical schedules.
- Develop and maintain syllabi, lesson plans, calendars, etc. foreach course taught.
- Communicate any concerns or issues to the course, clinical,and / or program coordinator including school director.
- Follow policies and procedures of the clinical site, theUniversity, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and the School ofProfessional Nursing Practice.
- Submit course specific documentation as schedule.
- Communicate course, clinical, and / or program requirements tostudents.
- Maintain office hours to assure availability to students forsupport including advisement, exam review, required remediation, and summativeevaluations.
- Collaborate with the course coordinator to plan, implement, andevaluate each assigned course to maintain quality and effectiveness.
- Attend scheduled meetings as related to course, clinical,program, school, college, and / or university.
- Participate in service opportunities on and off campus thatimpact the university, professional, and / or local communities.
- Participate in the shared governance of the university,college, and school through assorted opportunities for engagement on campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Master of Science in Nursing degree and holdan unencumbered Mississippi RN license. They must be competent practitioners ofnursing and meet all clinical requirements of affiliated agencies. CurrentAmerican Heart Association CPR certification is required. Evidence of yearlytuberculin skin tests, other necessary immunizations (as per nursing programpolicy and / or agency requirements), and ten continuing education units annuallyare essential. Familiarity with and adherence to clinical agency policies andprocedures, including completion of all required training (, electronichealth records, HIPAA, medication administration, agency orientation), ismandatory. Finally, candidates must uphold the mission and values of the Universityof Southern Mississippi, the College of Nursing and Health Professions, and theSchool of Professional Nursing Practice. Preferred Qualifications
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor ofPhilosophy in Nursing (PhD) or closely related area.
