What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postal Clerk position at The University of Southern Mississippi?
This position works in all three areas of the Post Office as a floater. Accepts mail, dispatches mail, sales stamps, money orders. Places campus mail in department and student boxes throughout the day. Works in for supervisor area when they are out.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Accepts, sorts, and forward mail.
- Sell stamps, money orders, insurance for the contract window. Do a daily report for the United States Postal service.
- Charges out mail for departments and applies postage with a meter machine.
- Rents and closes boxes for students each semester.
- Fill in for supervisor when he / she is out.
- Drives the PO truck to main post office for supplies and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High School graduate or GED
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with money and working with a point of sale system.
Any postal experience a plus.
