Position Overview:
The Southern Miss Esports Graduate Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations, event production, team management, and community engagement efforts of the Southern Miss Esports program. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including assisting with event planning and execution, managing student staff, coordinating team schedules, maintaining inventory, and providing technical and administrative support. The Graduate Assistant will contribute to creating a vibrant and inclusive esports environment while ensuring smooth and efficient program operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Esports Program Support:
- Support daily operations of the esports program, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Assist in implementing program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for the growth and improvement of the esports program.
- Complete all additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Event Planning & Execution:
- Plan, organize, and execute esports events, tournaments, community nights, and special campus activations.
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue setup, equipment procurement, and staffing.
- Coordinate with external organizations, sponsors, and university partners for event support.
- Team & Staff Management:
- Supervise and manage student staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Adjust student schedules to ensure adequate coverage for Game Room and Esports Arena operations.
- Manage and support team captains to ensure efficient communication and operations within each team.
- Technical & Production Support:
- Set up and configure streaming equipment such as cameras, microphones, and capture devices.
- Perform regular maintenance checks and troubleshooting on all production equipment.
- Provide technical support to players, spectators, and staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Manage the storage and organization of digital assets, maintaining an efficient workflow for content retrieval and usage.
- Plan, organize, and execute high-quality livestreams for esports events.
- Ensure all technical aspects of the livestream are functioning properly, including video, audio, and internet connectivity.
- Monitor live broadcasts to address and resolve any issues in real-time.
- Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Foster a vibrant and inclusive esports community.
- Help organize and participate in community outreach activities and events.
- Foster relationships with local schools, organizations, and esports enthusiasts to build a supportive community.
- Collaborate with the USM Esports Club and its advisor to support their space and operational needs.
- Help facilitate events, tournaments, and community engagement opportunities.
- Inventory & Facility Management:
- Manage inventory for the Game Room and Esports Arena.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, accounted for, and available for use.
- Coordinate with IT or relevant departments for hardware/software updates and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate and execute the day-to-day operations of the Esports Arena and Game Room, including scheduling, staffing, and maintenance of gaming equipment.
- Budget & Sponsorship:
- Assist with budget planning and tracking expenses.
- Help maintain and oversee scholarship allocations for esports athletes.
- Support efforts to secure and maintain sponsorships for the program.
- Assist in identifying potential sponsorship opportunities and partners.
- Support the creation and presentation of sponsorship proposals and marketing materials.
- Help maintain relationships with existing sponsors, ensuring fulfillment of sponsorship agreements and deliverables.
- Marketing & Communication:
- Assist in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote the esports program.
- Support social media management and content creation to enhance program visibility and engagement.
- Act as a liaison between Esports teams and program management, facilitating communication and coordination.
