What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Collaborative Pianist position at The University of Southern Mississippi?
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a position in collaborative piano in the School of Music. This is a full-time ten-month staff position with benefits. The Staff Collaborative Pianist will provide collaborative piano services for instrumental and vocal lessons, concerto competition auditions, School of Music auditions, departmental recitals, applied music juries, degree recitals, and teach and coach students in their assigned and chosen literature / repertoire. In addition, the Staff Collaborative Pianist will play for selected guest artists and faculty recitals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide collaborative piano services for instrumental and vocal lessons.
- Provide collaborative piano services for concerto competition auditions and School of Music auditions
- Provide collaborative piano services for department recitals, applied music juries and degree recitals
- In all collaborative piano services with instrumental and vocal students, the Staff Collaborative Pianist is expected to teach and coach their students while helping them prepare their repertoire. In their teaching, they will focus on musical elements, stylistic approach, and inherit musical traditions to further aid their students in learning the literature / repertoire
- Provide collaborative piano services for selected guest artist and faculty recitals
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in collaborative piano or piano from an accredited college or university is required as well as a demonstrated record of success as a collaborative pianist with substantial and significant instrumental repertoire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Preferred Qualifications Certificate, MM or DMA from an accredited college or university in Collaborative Piano is preferred.
