Job Description
The Human Resources Admin for the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology (EPP) at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture plays an integral role in managing the department's human resource functions, supporting faculty and staff, and ensuring compliance with university policies. This position handles a wide array of HR tasks, from coordinating hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding processes to supporting faculty affairs and data reporting. The Human Resources Admin is a primary resource for faculty and staff, providing guidance on HR matters and collaborating with UTIA HR for comprehensive employee support.
Responsibilities
Human Resource Management
- Manage and coordinate a variety of HR processes within the department, ensuring smooth, compliant operations across hiring, onboarding, and offboarding procedures.
- Support faculty and staff with the creation and posting of new job positions and advertisements, collaborating to accurately represent role requirements and department needs.
- Serve as the primary coordinator for Visa applications for international scholars and employees, ensuring compliance with all legal and institutional requirements.
- Coordinate the classification of and process incoming hires into correct and valid positions, handling all required hiring documents and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new employees, including security checks and facility orientation.
- Verify insurance coverage eligibility for international guests and temporary employees, assisting them in understanding and accessing appropriate insurance options.
- Maintain and securely manage comprehensive documentation, including search materials, hiring records, offer letters, and other official HR documents.
- Conduct thorough offboarding procedures for departing employees, scholars, and students, adhering to university policy and preparing necessary exit documentation, including involuntary termination paperwork as needed.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for employees on general HR questions, assisting with inquiries on fee waivers, insurance, retirement, leave policies, and FMLA. Refer employees to the appropriate university HR resources, Q&A sites, or specific departments for further assistance when necessary.
- Assists with Financial Labor Distribution and managing salary budgets remaining.
- Assists with pulling data for reduction of labor force
- Assists with filing for J-1 or H1-B Visa applications
