Job Description

The Digital Learning Senior Content Manager plays a pivotal role in amplifying the department's digital presence, developing content strategies that elevate our profile and foster community engagement across various platforms. This role aligns content initiatives with the university's vision, mission, and strategic goals, building a cohesive and impactful online presence through websites, blogs, and social media channels.

This individual is responsible for the end-to-end management of content strategy, from planning and creation to maintenance and optimization. With a focus on brand building and awareness, the Senior Content Manager leads digital campaigns, monitors trends, analyzes engagement data, and ensures high-quality, strategic communication. The position demands high creativity, strategic thinking, and digital proficiency to engage and interact with our audience effectively while providing leadership to the content team.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media and digital content strategies that align with Digital Learning's strategic goals.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of social media and digital marketing trends, adapting strategies to maintain relevance, audience engagement, and overall impact.
  • Guide marketing team with marketing, product, design, and other internal Digital Learning projects to ensure content initiatives align with organizational goals.

Content Creation and Management

  • Oversee content creation, scheduling, publishing, and platform management, ensuring timely and consistent execution across digital platforms, including websites, blogs, and social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube).
  • Lead and guide team members, contractors, or contributors involved in content creation, ensuring brand consistency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Continuously monitor trends in social media and content marketing to adapt strategies and maintain relevance.
  • Manage the content calendar to ensure timely publication and cohesive messaging that resonates with the university's diverse stakeholders and highlights achievements, events, and news related to Digital Learning.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on content and social media best practices.
  • Advocate for innovative approaches to content and social media while ensuring alignment with organizational culture and values
  • Engagement and Community Building

  • Foster an active and engaged online community by encouraging dialogue, responding to inquiries, and moderating discussions promptly and respectfully.
  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen audience connections, cultivating a sense of community and loyalty online.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all content and social media initiatives, ensuring clarity of vision and objectives across departments.
  • Analytics and Reporting

  • Design and oversee a comprehensive framework for tracking and analyzing the performance of content and social media initiatives.
  • Ownership of data collection, leveraging analytics tools to pull and organize data across platforms.
  • Synthesize data into actionable insights and concise reports to demonstrate the success of campaigns and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Use analytics to proactively recommend and implement changes to strategies, optimizing for audience engagement, brand awareness, and conversion goals
  • Crisis Management

  • Monitor social media channels for potential crises or negative sentiment, responding appropriately to mitigate risks to the university's reputation
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans in collaboration with the communications team to handle public relations challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, social media, or relevant field
  • Experience : At least three years of experience in social media management or digital marketing, preferably within higher education or a similarly complex organization. Advanced writing and editing skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Education : Master's Degree
  • Experience : Five years of experience in social media management or digital marketing, preferably within higher education or a similar complex organization.
  • Work Location

  • Knoxville, TN. This position does have the potential for a hybrid working capacity.
