Job Description
Some essential tasks of this position will include managing the development and configuration of the websites, overseeing the website user experience, tracking the website usage through analytics, selecting vendors needed to support the websites, and communicating the quality standards of the website to the key stakeholders.
Additionally, the Website Developer supports their team and the libraries by training and sharing their expertise and knowledge in website standards and best practices. They will continuously seek knowledge and learning opportunities to expand their skill sets and adopt new emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of complex, dynamic websites that utilize web languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that meet common standards, frameworks, and the governing policies of the university.
- Design the Libraries' websites with user-centric design, best practices for user experience (UX), optimized search, current web accessibility standards, and responsive design principles.
- Monitor and conduct website usability, web analytics, and other assessment initiatives for the Libraries' web-based applications.
- Lead reviews of security vulnerabilities for websites at the Libraries
- Manage large scope projects for the libraries websites including full redesign and platform migration.
- Maintain the websites by tracking updates, creating backups, resolving complex issues related to the infrastructure and code, and addressing other operational tasks in timely manner.
- Lead and coordinate the Website Coordinators and other groups that represent units throughout the libraries for web content and the standards that govern the web
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Programming or related field
2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling 6 years.
Skills with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with academic libraries and library technologies
