The Department of Psychology in the College of Science at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a non-tenure Academic Professional Track ( APT ) faculty position to begin Fall 2025. The APT faculty position is a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer for M.S. or M.A. candidates and Assistant Professor of Instruction rank for Ph.D. candidates. This is a nine-month renewable contract position that will support our department’s degree programs within the broader field of Experimental Psychology, including Brain and Behavior, Behavioral Neuroscience, Health and Cognitive Sciences, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Required Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have a minimum of a master’s degree in psychology, or a closely related field, experience teaching large college-level classes, enthusiasm for working with undergraduates, and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level utilizing active learning and innovative pedagogies.
In addition to teaching, candidates will be expected to contribute to the quality and growth of the department by meeting service expectations of the department, college, and university to promote our undergraduate programs and enhance our students’ educational experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of experience teaching university-level psychology courses. Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system is also preferred.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental fields of study. Candidates specializing in all sub-disciplines of psychology are welcome to apply; however, preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence in neuroscience, neuropharmacology, brain and behavior, cognitive psychology, and/or statistics. APT instructors are expected to teach four courses each fall and spring semester at the undergraduate level, primarily using a face-to-face teaching modality.
Successful candidates should be strongly committed to inclusive teaching practices, undergraduate mentorship, and student success. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
