Job Summary
As the Research Engineering Scientist ( RESA ) III you will support research scientists, students, and faculty at the UTA Research Institute ( UTARI ) in developing control hardware and implementing software for robotic and medical device R&D projects. Most activities will focus on lab work,
including the development and testing of prototypes in laboratory and research settings.
Perform job duties under direct supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
- Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with one (1) year proven experience in PCB design and assembly, pneumatic hardware integration, sensor integration, and microcontroller programming.
- Expertise in Embedded programming (Arduino, C/C , C#, and circuitPython), microcontrollers ( PICS , ARM , hobby boards such as Arduino, Beaglebone, Raspberry PI, ESP 32).
- Experience in soldering and fault-detection.
- Over two (2) year extensive experience in:
- PCB Design and Assembly: Design, develop, and assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) for various robotic applications.
- Pneumatic Hardware Integration: Integrate pneumatic hardware components into embedded systems for controlling pneumatically driven actuators.
- Sensor Integration: Integrate sensors (IMUs, force sensors, pressure sensors) for closed-loop control of robotics.
- Microcontroller Programming: Develop and program microcontroller firmware to control and interface with hardware components.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of prototypes of developed embedded systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Design the layout, assemble components, troubleshoot, and conduct the embedded programming for Printed Circuit Board ( PCB ) development.
- Maintain, debug, and diagnose embedded systems.
- Perform integration of electronic and pneumatic hardware.
- Perform design verification and validation of hardware systems.
- Prepare documentation and contribute to reports.
- Document work / keep accurate records.
- Maintain awareness of current technological advancements related to your field.
