    This is a grant funded position with an end date of 08/31/25, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

    Purpose

    The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is looking for a Research Engineering Scientist Associate II. This position will support the research program of Dr. Josh Cisler. Dr. Cisler conducts behavioral, neuroimaging, and clinical trial research with traumatized adolescent and adult samples. This individual will assist with implementation of research studies and clinical trials, including recruitment, consenting, administration of assessments, budgeting, behavioral and neuroimaging tasks implementation, and data analysis and quality control.

    Responsibilities

    • Study Coordination: Identify, recruit, and consent research subjects. Administer assessments, call subjects for follow-up as outlined within research protocols.
    • Protocols Management: Maintaining regulatory compliance with IRB and federal guidelines. Assist Principle Investigators with research-related tasks such as preparation of manuscripts, progress reports, and grant submissions.
    • Lab Management: Manage research administrative tasks such as maintaining supply inventories, ordering and maintaining equipment, and preparing subject payments. Assist in the supervision, coordination, and management of graduate and undergraduate research assistants (student hourly position holders) hired to assist with research projects.
    • Manage Database: Manage Database Data analysis and manuscript writing. Maintain project databases and records, including data entry. Assist and/or lead data analysis of behavioral, clinical, and/or imaging data. Prepare poster submissions to scientific conferences and co-write manuscripts for submissions to scientific journals.
    • Other duties as assigned


    Required Qualifications

    Master's degree and no experience, or bachelor's degree and two years of related experience. Familiarity with engineering and/or scientific equipment ordinarily used in college laboratory work. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work well with a wide group of faculty, staff, and students, including the willingness and ability to train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Degree in psychology / neuroscience or related field with 3 or more years of experience working on research projects with clinical populations.

    Salary Range

    $45,000 depending on qualifications

    Working Conditions

    • May work around standard office conditions.
    • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
    • Use of manual dexterity.
    • Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
    • Field work as necessary.

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
