Interested in computer vision methods, particularly in the context of bridge inspection and monitoring? My lab (https://lnkd.in/gRwUbkR8) at University of Texas at Austin is looking for a postdoc. The overall objective for this work is to develop a vision-based technology that makes use of new developments in the area of mixed reality (MR) and machine learning techniques for assessment of reinforced concrete (RC) structures.
Qualifications
• PhD in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, computer science, or closely related fields completed within the last 5 years
• Strong background in computer vision and machine learning
• A strong record of productive and creative research demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary research team
Responsibilities
• Collaborate on research in the Department of Civil Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) under the supervision of Dr. Salvatore Salamone
• Will perform independent research in areas that include pattern/feature detection, machine learning, image processing and analysis, mixed reality tools
• Publish, present, and disseminate research
• Mentor graduate students; and supplement a team of researchers to push forward this research
Compensation includes a competitive stipend based on the candidate's experience. Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding and the direction of the research.
