The Office of Finance at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Senior Financial Manager, Travel and Entertainment. This is a full-time position; remote work is expected with limited possibility of hybrid work.

Purpose

The Senior Financial Manager, Travel and Entertainment will provide oversight of all travel and entertainment expenses across the medical school and health system. This position will be responsible for policies, procedures, compliance, and reporting. Additionally, this role will provide consultative support and training to departments along with recommendations to leadership for process improvements.

Responsibilities

Policy Development and Implementation

Develops, updates, and maintains travel and entertainment policies that are compliant with campus, state, and federal guidelines.

Ensures policies are communicated effective and provides training and support on policy adherence.

Oversee Travel and Entertainment Expenses

Oversees all entertainment and travel requests and provides recommendations for approval / disapproval.

Manages the travel and entertainment expense request process.

Compliance and Reporting

Ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Conducts regular audits to identify and address non-compliance issues.

Prepares and presents reports on travel and entertainment expenses to senior management.

Stakeholder Management

Collaborates with various departments to understand their travel and entertainment needs.

Serves as the primary point of contact for travel and entertainment-related inquiries.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with staff at all levels of the institution.

Strong knowledge of financial applications and processes.

Effective problem-solving skills.

Ability to develop, prioritize, and accomplish goals.

Demonstrated analytical thinking, critical thinking, and project management competencies.

Ability to analyze and evaluate data and make appropriate decisions / recommendations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance. Experience writing and implementing policies and / or procedures. Experience in communicating and presenting processes to varied audiences.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with travel and entertainment expense management. Prior auditing experience. Experience working in a financial role at an Academic Health institution.

Salary Range

85,000 depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office condition.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

Compliance :
