UT Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for the management of over 17,000 parking spaces on campus, including 12 parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots. Our operations include the distribution and regulation of daily, permitted, and event parking, as well as the maintenance of parking lots and garages. We also provide assistance to those parked on or traveling through campus. This assistance includes jump-starts and opening vehicles for those locked out.

Purpose

To provide management, procurement, distribution, and inventory control of mechanical parts, lubricants and fuels for the University's automotive repair facilities. Will ensure vehicle maintenance technicians have the necessary parts to complete repairs efficiently and cost effectively, while maintaining accurate inventory records.

Responsibilities

  • Processing work orders from technicians, identifying the correct parts based on vehicle information and repair description, and cost effectively sourcing parts from various vendors based on price, availability, and quality.
  • Providing price quotes for parts and explaining pricing structures. Following up on backorders and communicating delays to mechanics and customers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with vehicle technicians, vendors / suppliers and customers.
  • Receiving and checking incoming deliveries against purchase orders. Reconciling credit card statements against part invoices.
  • Stocking, organizing, and labeling parts in the storeroom. Identifying commonly used parts and keeping adequate stock on hand. Maintaining accurate inventory records, including tracking part numbers, quantities, and pricing. Handling part returns and exchanges, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Manage fuel inventory, including ordering fuels, verifying fuel drops, and documenting proper fuel storage and inventory controls, as required by TCEQ.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

    High school graduation or GED. Three years in automotive parts sourcing or parts counter experience. Ability to use inventory management systems, repair guides and parts catalogs to research and order parts. Ability to manage a large inventory of parts efficiently, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Must have professional demeanor and show attention to detail. Applicant selected must provide a current three-year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Must be dependable, punctual, flexible, and exhibit exceptional attendance.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Five years in automotive procurement. Proven track record of automotive parts sourcing. Proven knowledge of vehicle repairs and repair processes. High comfort with the use of technology and computers.

    Driving Required

    This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

    Salary Range

    53,000.00 depending on qualifications

    Monday - Friday, 7 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM

    Employment Eligibility :

    Retirement Plan Eligibility :

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
