Job Summary
The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Fisch College of Pharmacy. The Dean serves as Chief Academic Officer responsible for executive management of the College and its full range of programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include overseeing accreditation compliance, curriculum development, faculty development, experiential education and student success initiatives, while ensuring appropriate enrollment, retention, graduation and licensure efforts. The role entails managing budgetary, personnel, and operational aspects of the college, and enhancing institutional visibility through external partnerships, research collaborations, and community engagement.
The Fisch College of Pharmacy is at the forefront of pharmacy education. Centering around innovative, student-focused learning, our program teaches future pharmacists the solutions-oriented skills used day-to-day in the healthcare field.
The successful candidate will be a Pharm.D. and/or Ph.D., with an outstanding record of effective leadership in pharmacy or pharmacy education, as evidenced by a distinguished record in academic administration, practice of clinical pharmacy or nationally recognized scholarship. Successful leadership and management experience is required. The successful candidate will be a visionary, entrepreneurial and dynamic leader who can shape, articulate, lead, and implement the purposeful and engaging mission of the College.
Essential Functions
- Lead and implement comprehensive strategic planning for the college.
- Work to build and maintain vital relationships with clinical, research, academic and community partners.
- Advance the academic mission of the college and identify priorities for investment in the research portfolio.
- Set institutional financial metrics/targets and help to make final prioritization decisions for resource allocation across the college.
- Oversee the final approval of all faculty recruitments into the college.
- Coordinate the research and academic activities of college centers to align with the College of Pharmacy and University of Texas at Tyler’s overall goals.
- Ensure the quality of the academic environment, including maintaining and achieving accreditation for all programs.
- Assure the integrity and compliance of all college policies and activities.

Represent the college's interests and programs to appropriate university and clinical partner administrators and constituents.
Assume responsibility for the appropriate allocation of space assigned to the college, for the periodic review of space utilization, and for establishing and implementing guidelines for retention or reallocation of space based on faculty productivity. - Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of administrative experience in an accredited college or university is required.

- Demonstrated scholarly achievement of national recognition and eligible for appointment at the level of full professor.
- Broad understanding of complex issues of clinical pharmacy practice in today's healthcare environment with a vision for pharmacy practice in the future.
- Strong commitment to both research and innovative clinical practice.
- Administrative experience incorporating strategic and operational planning, preparation of budgets, effective management of resources within a budget, personnel organization, and management.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
