Job Summary
The Esports Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting qualified students for both club and competitive varsity level teams, scheduling and coaching intercollegiate matches and tournaments, scheduling practice preparation, and scheduling the training lab/arena with time for walk-ins interested in gaming.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Provides leadership; organizes, directs, and administers all aspects of the esports program.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recruits academically prepared students for club and varsity level teams.
- Provides mentoring and academic oversight of athletes to promote retention and degree completion.
- Instructs players on rules, regulations, use of equipment, strategies, and proper technique relating to esports.
- Develop and manage quality practices and competitions on a reasonable schedule.
- Maintains and monitors esports equipment & supplies.
- Collaborate with faculty and students to facilitate learning opportunities relating to esports
- Assist the Soules College of Business in the management of the esports lab including but not limited to research, scheduling, and course assistance.
- Partner with university advancement in developing program sponsorships.
- Assist in budgetary planning and annual budget preparations for services offered.
- Planning, implementation, evaluation and assessment of the program.
- Support initiatives facilitated by the division of student success and Soules College of Business on all UT Tyler campuses.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of experience relating to esports in a higher education setting.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related areas
- 3 years of experience relating to esports in a higher education setting.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Must be proficient in operating computer equipment and familiar with software relating to gaming.
- Must have extensive knowledge of gaming platforms, gaming, and gaming industry.
- Knowledge of Nace rules and regulations.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
