REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in environmental, natural, or applied science, or related field, and one year of related experience.
Provides technical assistance in the administration of policies, standards, and regulations relating to environmental health and safety.
Job Duties
Performs monthly, annual and 6-year portable fire extinguisher inspections across multiple campuses.
Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
- An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.
- Associate’s degree in environmental, natural, or applied science, or related field, and five years of related experience.
- A working knowledge of various Life Safety codes and statutes with the ability to make and effectively apply interpretations.

Provides technical assistance in the administration of policies, standards, and regulations relating to environmental health and safety.
Job Duties
- Inspects other fire equipment as needed, such as fire doors, evacuation equipment, etc.
- Update life safety equipment databases with changes, adds, and deletes of various life safety equipment as schedules or needs dictate
- Updates and maintains compliance data and produces reports from inspections on software platform.
- Coordinates work duties within program areas and with contractors.
- Provides technical support on safety assignments within established time frames.
- Develops schedules to meet compliance time frames.
- Supports customer in regard to environmental, health, & safety related compliance.
- Researches, implements technical requirements for tracking and monitoring equipment.
- Applies knowledge of environmental and safety, policies and procedures to support customers.
- Provides quality technical support in all areas to diversified customers.
- Monitors facilities for hazard levels to ensure worker and public safety.
- Assists in calibration or inspection of safety equipment.
- Assists in the development and delivery of safety training programs.
- Develops and implements new/improved work processes.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Basic knowledge in environmental health & safety regulations.
- Familiarity and the ability to inspect, test, monitor, safety equipment.
- Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments.
- Potential exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. May involve strenuous activity such as walking, lifting, and moving of material. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection, chemical resistant clothing, etc.
- Standard office equipment and equipment used to ensure safe environmental levels.
- May be required to achieve or maintain 24- or 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations certification according to 29 CFR 1910 requirements within first 6 months of hire.
- Ability to drive UTMB vehicles.
