Scope of Job
To assist in directing and managing the day-to-day operations and activities of admissions for Medical Education.
Description of Duties
- Assists the director with managing the daily operations and processes of admissions for medical education.
- Establishes, manages, and monitors standards of quality control for admission processes for medical education.
- Directs and supervises processing of admissions applications, maintaining and updating student records and files, transcripts, and transcript evaluation process.
- Supervises assigned employees in the administration of admissions for medical education and oversees all operations in the absence of the Director.
- Manages and reviews transfer evaluations of credits for medical students.
- Supervises, interprets and implements programs admissions criteria set forth by the institution, departments, state and accrediting agencies to ensure compliance.
- May participate in short-term planning and setting objectives for the assigned area.
- May collaborate in the budgetary planning for the medical admissions area.
- Analyzes program issues/challenges and recommends appropriate action.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the technical team to test process enhancements and systems upgrades for the medical admissions area.
- Creates reports for various programs to analyze the impact of regulations and procedural changes on prospective applicants.
- Analyzes and resolves complex and controversial program issues to assist management with decision-making.
- Counsels and advises potential students, parents, faculty, and staff concerning medical admissions policies, procedures, regulations, and services.
- Coordinates information and prepares reports as required by programs.
- Serves as liaison between medical admissions and other campus departments, as well as other non-institutional agencies or institutions.
- Attends compliance meetings and conferences to maintain knowledge of policies and best practices.
- Performs other duties as required.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree from an accredited university.
Licenses/Certifications

Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience performing closely related duties.
Preferred Experience
Experience in academic and scholastic matters, including advising, recruiting or other equivalent related experience in a Higher Education setting.
Equipment
Proficient in MS Office products and ability to learn other software. Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. Flexibility to work some evenings and/or weekends and some traveling may be required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills. Ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations, ability to multi-task, and demonstrate computational ability. Must work effectively in team situations and be detail-oriented. Exhibit integrity with high ethical standards and strict adherence to University rules and regulations.
